Stuck in Her Past
Chapter 2

Mizu finished packing. When she got the last shirt neatly folded up, she walked over to her desk, pulling out a sheet of paper and a pen. She sat down at the chair and began composing the letter she knew either Mana or Allen would find.
Dear Mana and Allen,
I'm afraid I can't stay at home any more. I have to leave. Don't bother searching for me, I'll be okay. I'm a tough girl, remember?
Allen, you're old enough to care for yourself. You don't need me as often, because people don't harass you as much as they did. Keep your head up and walk through the crowd like no one's there.
Mana, you've been a great daddy. You were always there for me, when I needed it. I hope I can see you again someday.
I love you both. Try not to worry.
Love,
Mizu

Mizu sighed as she folded it up. She thought for a moment. "I'll have dinner with them, and then leave tonight."
As if on cue, Mana then called out, "Dinner!"
Mizu rushed downstairs to enjoy the last dinner she would have with the two most important people in her life.

Mizu pretended to be happy with the two throughout the entire meal. Allen seemed to continuously glance at his sister. Mizu figured either he could tell something was up or he was looking for a good role model. After dinner was finished and the table was cleared, Mizu helped Mana get Allen ready for bed.
Allen gave the usual "But I'm not tired!" and "Do I hafta brush my teeth?"
Mana continued telling him "Yes," or "Now, young man." Allen replied with his six-year-old grumbling, which caused Mizu to turn around to conceal her laughter.
After Allen was in bed, Mana sighed as he shut the door. He turned and gave Mizu a kiss on her forehead, told her good night, then went to his own room.
Mizu waited. She turned the hall light off and held her breath, waiting to hear the sound of Mana sleeping. Soon enough, she could hear his deep, even breathing. She then padded softly to Allen's door. All she could hear was his soft, rhythmic breathing as well. Tears began to form in her eyes. She shut them and listened carefully, so as not to forget what it sounded like; hearing your little brother sleep in a peaceful dream.
Suddenly, the clock struck eleven. Mizu jumped. She hadn't paid attention to what she was doing. She looked around and realized she had fallen asleep in front of Allen's room. Hastily standing up, she made her way to her own room.
Mizu clicked her tongue. Kitsune jumped up right away and came to the edge, then jumped gracefully on her shoulder. He then shook himself.
Kitsune blinked for a minute, then jumped to the ground, standing up on his back legs, looking at Mizu. She pulled out a small bottle from her hip pouch. She popped the lid off. Kitsune started to hop in a small circle, panting excitedly.
Mizu tilted the bottle, and out came a small pill- or, at least, what looked like a pill. Mizu held it to Kitsune.
He took it and began to chew it. Suddenly, his fur started glowing blue. Daniel's eyes widened. Kitsune seemed to grow and change. There was Kitsune- except he was a normal dog.
After putting her backpack on, she clipped on "Kit's" leash.
Quietly making her way down the stairs, she glanced around. Good. No one's up, she thought, relieved.  She opened the door to the night air. "Goodbye, guys. I love you both," she silently whispered. She then rushed out the door, tears coming nonstop.
Train
"Whoa, that must have been rough," Lavi muttered.
Mizu took a shaky breath. "It was. I almost didn't run away," she mumbled.
Lavi gently rubbed her back. "Think you can keep goin'?"
She nodded.
Six Years Ago
Mizu darkly looked out over the ridge. Already two years had passed, and she felt hardly any different. Well, sorta, seeing as she was taller and more mature. Not to mention a damn good killer. She dryly smiled. Being as she had killed her final amount of bastards (the league didn't hurt those who caused no problem- most of the time it was the ones who sent them in the first place), she now lead her own group- consisted of a nine-year-old, a twelve-year-old, and a six-year-old. Kaya, Lara, and Josiah, she thought. They were all becoming very good with their weapons. Also, to Mizu's advantage, they didn't complain or whine.
Kitsune sniffed the air. He was even bigger than he was supposed to be- Mizu guessed because he took up much more pure water than he should have, which was supposed to be bad according to Daniel, but Kitsune seemed fine. In fact, she wondered if "Kitsune" suited him at all… he was looking more and more like a wolf.
"Mizu!" a voice called out. She turned to see Lara running up. For a twelve-year-old, she was pretty fast. She soon was next to Mizu, hardly panting. "Linnie wants us back at base. She says she has an important meeting you need to attend."
Mizu nodded. "Understood. Thank you." Lara nodded and walked back to camp. She enjoyed being led instead of leading. Even if the leader was a year younger.
The foursome quickly made way to home base. The three others went to their rooms, while Mizu quickly padded to hers.

Linnie looked up at the clock. "You need to get yourself under control, the meeting will start now."
Mizu took a deep breath, then nodded. "I'm calm," she said with an emotionless face.
Linnie nodded. "Good." She then opened the large doors behind her and the two walked in.
As Mizu sat in her normal place, she looked at the twelve other apprentices. There were mostly boys- eight of them. The other four were girls.
The main speaker, Declan, stood. He took a long, sweeping glance at everyone else. He finally spook after a while. "Friends, I have asked to gather for an affair about an alliance." He paused. "They are an elite group of those of God- they call themselves 'Apostles of God'- or 'Exorcists'. They believe joining forces would be a good thing. Speak now."
Linnie stood. "How can we trust them? Other alliances have failed in the past due to power-hungry mongrels."
The others muttered in agreement. Another man, named Phineas, stood up. "I knew a man there. They are good people, stopping the 'akuma.' If we join forces, who knows what power we could tap into?"
"What is this 'akuma' you speak of, brother?" a wise man named Judas spoke up.
"A machine belonging to an evil far greater than Satan himself," Phineas replied darkly.
Mayora, another leader, spoke as well. "And what, exactly, is this evil being?"
"He is called 'The Millennium Earl'."
Mizu gasped. Declan turned to her. "What is it child?"
She nervously stood. "With your permission, Father, I wish to speak…"
He nodded. She continued. "I know of this Earl. Also of this akuma. My brother wrote a journal on them. He knew everything- what they do, their purpose. But, I don't think an alliance would be too good."
"And why is that, young one?" Judas gently asked her.
She took a shaky breath. "Though the exorcists are indeed strong, the Earl has a higher advantage over them. If we stay out of their way, then the Earl will probably not bother us, and we won't have too much of our own blood on our hands."
The others began to mumble an agreement again.
Declan raised his hands for silence. "Those in favor, 'aye'. Against, say nothing." No one spoke a word. He nodded. "It is decided, then. We will refuse the alliance."

Mizu silently padded to her friend Daniel's room. Her heart fluttered at the thought of being in his room- just the two of them…
She shook her head. Don't think about that, she chided herself as she walked in. No one appeared to be in there, but Mizu knew better. Just then, the door clicked shut, and two arms wrapped around her shoulders. She smiled.
"I'm glad you came," a voice said. It wasn't Daniel. Mizu gasped as a hand covered her mouth. "Please don't struggle," the voice asked. The hands gently turned her around. She looked with fear.
Her capturer grinned cruelly, blood on his face. "No…" she muttered. Blood splattered the walls. The window was broken, and blood lined the broken glass.
"Yes," the stranger replied. He cocked his head and smiled. "It's amazing how three fast years can change you."
Mizu couldn't reply. She continued to look in shock.
Suddenly, the man pushed her to the ground. She let out a small shriek. The man leaned close to her. "You can't remember? I never hit you that hard…"
Suddenly, everything flooded back. "Tyki Mikk…"
"You got it." He smiled. "If I had known you loved Michael, I wouldn't have killed him."
"That's a lie."
"Ha! You're good." He leaned even closer. "But I don't think Michael really applies to you anymore."
"Shut up!!" Mizu yelled, pushing him off.
"He can come back if you like…" another voice said.
Mizu whipped around. "Earl…" Her eyes widened.
"Heehee! I'm glad you know who I am! It saves me a boring introduction." He bowed. "As I said, he can come back." A strange, metal robot-like machine suddenly appeared. "If you truly miss him…"
Mizu hesitantly walked up to it. Suddenly and without warning, it let out a piercing scream and jumped off the metal holding it. "Mizu!" it yelled. "I thought you cared!! Why?!" It lifted its arm, pointed at the end like a dagger. Before Mizu could move, it came down over her right eye. Pain went through her skull. "Why did you make me an akuma?!" Michael screamed, towering above her.
"Michael…" Mizu whispered, tears flooding her eyes.
Just then, there was a loud howl. Mizu turned and saw Kitsune. He ran toward the akuma, ripping his arms off.
"Michael!"
Kitsune held the arm in his mouth, poised over Michael's head.
It looked toward Mizu. "I love you- I always have…" Kitsune brought the dagger down, crashing it into the skull.
Mizu cried. The pain made its way to her consciousness. She fell into black…
Train
Mizu gently ran her fingers over her scar.
"Just like Allen…" Lavi mumbled. He hugged her. "Is that the end?"
She nodded. Lavi helped her stand up and walked her back to the other car.
She couldn't help but smile as she saw the others still rested peacefully. Lavi sat back on the chair. Mizu sat next to him.
He started to drift off to sleep, but he woke back up. Mizu had laid her head on his shoulder. He smiled. He then pulled his legs up underneath her, onto the chair; she followed suit and brought hers up on his.
Lavi pulled her close. She was now lying on his chest- he could feel her heart beating softly.
"Lavi…?" she softly mumbled.
"Yeah?"
"Thank you."
"For what?"
She quietly giggled. "For listening. I needed to tell someone, but I never could…"
"Oh." He chuckled. "It's what I'm here for…"
He fell asleep. Mizu's eyes started to flutter closed. You think I said everything, but I didn't, she thought guiltily.
She started to dream of what had happened next…
Well, this took me a little longer than needed to upload. I need to stop procrastinating so much...
